Printing Usability

How do you take a bad situation, spend 11 months of work, and come up with a more usable, but not more humane, pinting dialouge? Ask this guy. He had a tough problem: 3 very unpredicble components and 70+ options. So his solution looks pretty and fits his 90% quotient. Not too bad, but nothing new either.

My idea, it would take longer to flesh out than the 5 minutes I am already over- essentially revolves around a 3d preview. An incrimental search for a particular setting (all the rage these days) would be good. I also don't see any references to any card sorting exercise. : (
